Find you there

Why don’t we settle down
Even in this fast paced city
Where the music plays until midnight
And days longer than the nights where
I get to hold you thirty minutes less

Why don’t we settle down
In the small town where you grew up
So I can learn all that you were
And love all that you’ll become
And we’ll wake up a little earlier like old couples do

Why don’t we settle down
In foreign lands to love and become
Who we are from the start
And at night, I’ll whisper “I love you”
In languages different than ours

Ill settle down with you
Here, right now, anywhere with you
From the clouds to the fire below
And all the places, I’d call them home
If I’d wake up every day to find you there

Heroes

She likes to believe we are all writers. Maybe not the way the ink touches papers, but the way we write our lives as if they will be remembered long after we pass away. Some choose to be heroes while others choose to be villains, but she says she thinks the greatest adversary is not the evil characters chosen, but the time in our lives when we stop and pause and suddenly we do not know what should be written next- our writer’s block.

She says not knowing where to go next or what road to travel is the hardest road to travel.

Fly

Have you ever felt like your wings broken or clipped away? And you roam the world endlessly finding your place when  in truth you already knew that you don’t belong on the ground, because your place is in the clouds, in the marvelous blue sky.

Aren’t We All?

She roams the world naked without purpose
And every corner, a beggar begs for a piece of life,
Like she needs to give more than she has

And everyday after she wakes, she pounds her chest
For a trapped soul wanting to be free and breaking
Through her ribcage like it belonged somewhere else

And she stands on a cliff with her feet on the edge
Knowing she shouldnt stay but more troubled on where to be
And shes afraid to fall but more afraid to move

At night she feels as if she couldnt breathe
From tears formed in her lungs by an emptiness within,
And she bleeds hoping to drain all the pain away

She weeps, Are all souls lost like mine?
Because she hears the beat, but she cant feel her heart
And she wakes up everyday afraid she’ll never be alive

So Sleep without Me

We were meant to end fallen and we knew it all along
Like the love we said will stay long after we sleep
Left even before you told me goodnight, and all I saw
Was your figure clouded by tears when we said goodbye

We knew we were a fragile vase on an edge of a table
Waiting to fall and break at the slightest move
And every fragment meant to cut loving hands that
would collect and assemble us back to who we were

You can hide me but not the broken lines that will show
Who you were, who you are like reflection staring back
And before we leave completely, will you be who you are?
Will you love all you can, and love who you want to love?

If you need to know, I have never been more alive than when
I was with you, and we’re parting ways with my heart in your palms
And I’m afraid to walk back in our loop that haunted me
Now say, I’ll see you again but not the way we used to

So close your eyes and sleep without me
They say the night is long and lonely, so I wrapped myself in
Thick blankets to get a feel of the warmth we’ve lost
And I’ll close my eyes as I struggle to sleep without you
